World Series of Poker, also known as WSOP is probably the most famous live tournament poker series in the world. If you win The World Series of Poker tournament then you become a real poker legend. Anyone can become a winner of a WSOP bracelet because you can qualify at these events through online satellites that are available on poker sites which provide super promotions and a great customer service. The online players have the chance to take part at the WSOP by purchasing an online satellite ticket for just $1 and sometimes even for free. The most well known example is Chris Moneymaker who won the main event (more than $2,5 Million) after he qualified from an online poker room for just $39.
For example you can try your luck this year to get qualified through the online satellites as the 2013 WSOP Schedule is already known. The WSOP starts with the Casino Employees No-Limit Hold’em on 27th May 2013 and ends on 7th July with the No Limit Hold`em Main Event.
The WSOP has its roots in 70`s when the casino owner and poker player Benny Binion organized the first edition of series in his own casino: HorseShoe. In those days the tournaments structure was different: they played only cash games of Texas Hold’em, Seven Cards Stud, RAZZ, Deuce to Seven, Low Ball Draw and Five Cards Stud. Because a tournament structure was not available at that time, Benny Binion has invited six of the most valuable players of that era as judges and to vote for the best player. They voted for Johnny Moss, so he became the first World Champion of Poker. He didn`t receive a bracelet, but he received a golden cup. The next year they added a freezeout structure for the WSOP. Since then the World Series of Poker changed its rules a lot of times and the cash prizes has grown now reaching outstanding figures. The climax of WSOP regarding the prizes was in 2006 when Jamie Gold won the main event, the bracelet and 12 million dollars.
Because of its popularity, the number of players grew, and the Horseshoe Casino became too small, so the WSOP moved to the Amazon Room. Since then the World Series of Poker is running there. In 2007 the WSOP was for the first time held outside Las Vegas. It was held in London and the WSOP was named: World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE). That main event was won by an unknown 18 y.o teen girl (also qualified online) named Annette Obrestad. She became the youngest poker player that ever won the WSOP and she will remain the youngest player that won the World Series of Poker, at least in Las Vegas because the minimum age for playing at WSOP in USA is 21.
